Text messages

NY Styles Barbershop sends text messages about your own appointments, only if you tick the box to say yes.

What we text

Program name: NY Styles Barbershop appointment texts. Messages come from (631) 654-0605 and are about your own visits: booking confirmations, a reminder before your appointment with a link to confirm or cancel, notice if your time changes, your receipt, a request to rate your visit, and for walk-ins, a text when your chair is ready. We don't send marketing by text unless you separately ask for deals and news.

How you opt in

Nobody gets texts unless they say yes. There are four places a customer can opt in, and every one of them has the same checkbox that starts unticked. Leaving it unticked never stops anyone booking.

  1. Online booking and account sign-up on nystylesbarbershop.com/#/book and nystylesbarbershop.com/#/join: the customer types their mobile number and ticks the box below it.
  2. The walk-in tablet in our waiting area: the customer types their name and mobile number and ticks the same box before joining the line or booking a time.
  3. "Tell me when a chair opens" on the booking page: same number field, same box.
  4. At the front desk: the barber reads the wording below to the customer and only ticks "Customer said yes to texts" if they agree. If they say no, the number is still saved for a phone call, but no texts are sent.

Customers who already have an account can turn texts on or off at any time under Me → Notifications → Texts.

1. Walk-in tablet in our waiting area. Online booking, account sign-up and the "Tell me when a chair opens" form use this same checkbox and wording. The box starts unticked and booking works without it.

2. Front desk "Book a client" screen. The box appears once a mobile number is typed, starts unticked, and the script printed under it is read to the customer. The barber ticks it only if the customer says yes.
